HELPING HAND HOME FOR CHILDREN

Who We Are

Helping Hand Home is the oldest continuously operating residential childcare agency in Travis County and a priceless resource kept strong and viable through community support. Helping Hand Home for Children provides a safe haven for children healing from physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect or abandonment.

Our Mission

is to provide a nurturing and therapeutic home for children and to restore each child to a healthy family setting.

With private and community support, we give children and families the best in care through a highly educated staff, low child-to-staff ratio and a comprehensive approach to healing. This approach helps children whose young lives were once filled with fear, pain and chaos learn to reclaim their childhood and trust adults to take care of them.

Support the Home

When you support Helping Hand Home for Children, you are helping severely abused children rebound from trauma and rediscover their childhood. Thanks to community support, Helping Hand Home is able to provide a place to heal for these children. Children whose lives were once filled with fear, pain, and chaos leave here with hope and a chance to have a bright future.

INDEPENDENT THERAPY DOGS (ITD, INC.) INCORPORATED

Independent Therapy Dogs (ITD, Inc.), Incorporated

Independent Therapy Dogs, Inc. is a national not-for-profit 501(c) (3)) organization dedicated to the promotion of registered therapy dog teams through education, training and experience.

For the past 10 years, my dogs Fabulous and Greta the Great*, and I have visited schools, libraries, military bases, universities, USO facilities, independent living centers, rest homes, Alzheimer's facilities, hospitals, and Boy/Girls Scout workshops. We have also have attended special events, parades and charity walks. Both dogs especially liked the Ruff Reader Program, webinars which is designed to help children and young adults READ for learning and pleasure. We have cuddled with kids, military members, nurses, the elderly, and more.

In order to become members of ITD, Inc. and participate as a therapy dog team, we trained for months and then we tested our skills to become the best volunteers we could be. For more information or to request a team to visit you or your organization (after the pandemic), please contact:
ITD.Inc. at itdi-2010@att.net or go online to:  Independent Therapy Dog, Inc.

ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION:
THE LONGEST DAY (TLD)

Alpha Delta Kappa is proud to partner with Alzheimer’s Association for The Longest Day on June 20, 2021. Care and concern for others is a hallmark of our organization. We give generously of our time, talents and financial resources to charitable efforts all over the world so this is another way that we can give to a worthy cause. As women educators, we are aware that nearly 13 million American women are living with or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease.

We want to work with Alzheimer’s Association to advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure, while ensuring that all those affected by the disease today have quality care and support. With over 32,000 members, Alpha Delta Kappa will use its strength in numbers and its dedication to the well-being of others to join with Alzheimer’s Association for The Longest Day.

ST.JUDE.jpg

At Gamma Delta Chapter - A∆K Texas, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. Health Clinic is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.

The Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation started a five-year St. Jude Altruistic Project during the 1981-1982 fiscal year to send at least a $60,000.00 annual contribution to St. Jude. This program and an additional $61,000.00 in recognition of our Founder, Agnes Shipman Robertson, was completed in the 1985-1986 fiscal year. Since that time, an annual contribution has been made from the Foundation funds to St. Jude for a total of $1,203,600.00. Adding the membership’s contribution of $23,000.00, Alpha Delta Kappa has contributed a grand total of $1,433,600.00 to help children plagued with dread disease through research and treatment. Adding donations made directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital from chapters on the local level, proceeds from Math-a-thon events, letter-writing campaigns and other efforts, cumulative Alpha Delta Kappa contributions have reached nearly $2.7 million (information received from St. Jude on March 16, 2017).

Eighty-five cents of every dollar received supports the research and treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
