ALBERTA A. CRANE

Our  beloved "Birdy" Alberta A, Crane earned her AΔK Sapphire Award!

We celebrate this important event in the lives of our sisters and in the life of our chapter, Gamma Delta!
We give thanks for this wonderful milestone in the life of our sister Alberta “Birdy” Crane and ask that this be a fond memory for her. As we gather together in love and fellowship, we are humbled and inspired by her many contributions to our sorority over the last 35 years. We ask that she be blessed on this occasion.
We take this opportunity to recognize Alberta “Birdy” Crane, a woman of vision and strength of purpose, who has worked to establish Gamm Delta of Alpha Delta Kappa and help it flourish.
Virtually we will present her with a blue flower/corsage* and light a blue candle in her honor to symbolize the energy and illumination she has demonstrated through her professional years in the lives of both her students and her fellow educators. The blue rose symbolizes attainment of the seemingly impossible.
As we consider your many years of service to Alpha Delta Kappa, we reflect on the qualities of sapphire and how appropriate they are in describing your sisterhood. For 35 years, you have dedicated yourself to upholding our founding principles of excellence in education, altruism and world understanding. We thank you for the enduring example you have set before us.
The finest sapphires of a velvety cornflower blue color possess great value. Over the years you have passed on valuable knowledge and love to all you have met, both socially and professionally. Since ancient times, Persians and Greeks have used the rich royal blue of sapphires to convey confidence, wisdom, stability and unity, all qualities we have observed in you over the years. Just as a sapphire can be a centerpiece on a ring or a complement to other gems on a pendant, you have demonstrated both leadership and support in our chapter.
Picture a star sapphire skyline molding the evening sky into sparkling pathways of sunset, completing another day. Like the multi-rayed star sapphire, you have assumed many roles in Gamma Delta, in the offices you have held, the committees on which you have served, and the friendships you have forged with your fellow educators. You have played an intrinsic part in the success of our sisterhood.
Ancient peoples believed that shimmering sapphire blue water has healing powers as it covers more than 70% of the earth. That water is both life-giving and life-threatening. Our hope is that the life-giving properties of water will protect you from any storms that may harm you as you continue your journey.
The sapphire is the most durable natural gem, second only to the diamond. Your three and a half decades of faithful service to Gamma Delta demonstrate your love of Alpha Delta Kappa and its mission, principles and ideals.
As a memento of your membership, we present you with a 35-year charm to hang on your badge. Wear this symbol of your constancy, dedication and love, as an outward expression of your inner accomplishments in touching the lives of others. Thank you for your contributions to Gamma Delta and to Alpha Delta Kappa.
Congratulations on becoming a Sapphire Sister!

CELEBRATING ALPHA DELTA KAPPA MONTH AND FOUNDERS' DAY

We come together to remember our Founders and to celebrate our membership in ALPHA DELTA KAPPA. It was through the vision, dedication, and actions of Agnes Shipman Robertson, Marion Southall, Marie Neal, and Hattie Poppino that the state of Missouri in 1947 issued a charter incorporating ALPHA DELTA KAPPA, allowing it to organize chapters in every state and around the globe. We honor our Founders!

WE EARNED THE SEVEN PEARL AWARD!

One pearl, up to a maximum of seven pearls, is awarded for the attainment of each of the criteria as identified on the ΑΔΚ Pearls of Achievement Award Checklist. A chapter will be recognized as a 7 “pearl” chapter if it meets all seven of the criteria.

Martha Kuhl prepared the meal of chicken salad stuffed avocado, rice salad, grapes, croissant, and fruit trifle.

trifle. Annie Kuhl Helped assemble and Ann Beardsley and Penny Huerta helped with delivery.
Everyone expressed their appreciation for the work these 4 sisters had done and how great everything tasted. Mindy commented that it exemplified our theme of
“Celebrating the Power of Friendship.” Martha Kuhl asked everyone to keep
closed the gift bag that was delivered with the meal until later in the meeting.

Martha Kuhl directed everyone to open their gift bags. She, Ann Beardsley and Penny Huerta had actually started putting the gifts together last spring after it
was announced Gamma Delta was a 7 Pearl chapter. Inside each purple gift bag was a sachet filled with lavender, several pieces of chocolate and a small box.
Inside the box was a beautiful stretchy bracelet with 7 pearls and amethyst beads with gold and silver accents which Penny and Ann had made. Everyone expressed gratitude for such wonderful and thoughtful gifts.

ALPHA DELTA KAPPA 32ND INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 2021

Gamma Delta had eight members who attended the Virtual International Convention
were asked to share some of the highlights from the sessions, programs, and entertainment that they had enjoyed. Members were impressed with the quality
of the Educational Symposium Learning Sessions. They also especially enjoyed
keynote speaker Dr. Bertice Berry and the Evening of Entertainment. Several
members would like to see some kind of hybrid (in-person and virtual)
International Convention in the future because it would allow more members to
attend. Ann Beardsley shares her photos from the convention.
