FOR TEACHERS, THIS YEAR WILL HAVE CHALLENGES BEYOND THE ORDINARY.
TEXAS GAMMA DELTA CHAPTER SUPPORTS TEACHERS IN MANY WAYS.
ANNIE KUHL - FIRST YEAR TEACHER
As we move back to in-person class, teachers will need to support students with compassion and trauma-informed strategies, and teachers—rookies in particular—will need support from colleagues and school leaders.
Teachers will have the herculean task of engaging students who are starting the school year already behind, with the added weight of loss, grief, and health worries as distractions to learning.
We help teachers with this monumental task.

ELIZABETH MJOS - FIRST YEAR TEACHER
Elizabeth recently graduated from Texas State University. She teaches second and third grade English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) at Bowie Elementary School in San Marcos, Texas.
Elizabeth also has two toddlers which makes Gamma Delta's support all the more important.
ELIZABETH MJOS
Gamma Delta supports her first year by supplying her with hundreds of books for her classroom library, teacher stamps, dry erase clipboards, journals, stickers, calm toys, posters, Lysol spray, pencils, reward items, and much more.
ELIZABETH'S CLASSROOM LIBRARY
Classroom libraries—physical or virtual—play a key role in providing access to books and promoting literacy; they have the potential to increase student motivation, engagement, and achievement and help students become critical thinkers, analytical readers, and informed citizens.
ELIZABETH'S STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM JOURNALING
Journal writing can help your children process feelings, build writing skills, and communicate their ideas.

ELIZABETH'S STUDENTS MADE CALM AND FIGIT TOYS FOR THEIR CALM DOWN CORNER
One way to help children learn how to self-regulate is by providing them with calm down corners. A calm down corner is a designated space in a home or classroom with the sole intent of being a safe space for a child to go to when they feel their emotions are running too high and they need to regain their emotional and physical control. These spaces are equipped with comforting objects and soothing materials that can promote mindfulness, breathing and reflection.
There is strong evidence to support calm/fidget toys use for students who struggle with sensory integration, anxiety, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
These small, easy-to-acquire tools can help students rebalance and get more from your academic learning time if they're used correctly.

ELIZABETH'S CLASSROOM LIBRARY IS MAKING A HUGE DIFFERENCE!
HIGH QUALITY BOOKS ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOUNG READERS
Elizabeth’s students are requesting more of their favorite books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, joke books, Beverly Cleary books and more!
ELIZABETH'S CLASSROOM LIBRARY
Elizabeth’s students love their now reading corner chairs donated by Gamma Delta!
They’re so popular that timers have to be used to give all students the opportunity to enjoy settle into a comfy chair to enjoy a good book.
ELIZABETH'S PAPERS ARE ORGANIZED
Elizabeth decided on the type of containers she needed to organize her 2nd and 3rd grade ELAR students' papers and her own. Gamma Delta gave her multi-colored drawers to support her need. Now they have a designated spot for each type of paper.
Gamma Delta found the right type of organization system she needs to keep everything running smoothly in that area.
ELIZABETH'S CHOOSES TO DO ADDITIONAL CLEANING AND DISINFECTING HER CLASSROOM DAILY.
Why is "cleaning for health" important at school?
Lowers absenteeism.
Increases productivity.
Improves indoor air quality.
